The process of blogging is to reach your audience in the effort to get them as leads and become part of your community using ‘Content Marketing’ – one of the biggest buzzwords in the digital marketing industry.

1. Determine Your Audience

Many people start a blog just because they hear their competitors are blogging but don’t know how to properly use it for marketing purposes. The first step is to determine who your blog is meant to attract. In my example my audience are network marketers, entrepreneurs & home based business owners. Blogging without knowing your target audience is like driving a car without a map – you’ll get nowhere. Focus on where you are going!

2. Create Value

Become a Content Creator! Anyone can create content but it takes time and effort to create valuable content. Starting out, it can be tough to come up with ideas (tell me about it). One trick is to use the notes that you notched down when you attended a webinar, an event or even courses & workshops. You have already the content you can share with your audience right there.

3. Be yourself not Someone Else

Be yourself in the style of writing. What makes a blog a blog is the fact that it doesn’t have to be a masterpiece of writing, it can be your voice & thoughts about the subject. In fact, blogs written in your natural voice are more likely to create a connection with the reader and build a relationship and gain their trust.

4. Be a Giver

We all agree People love free things, it’s a fact of life. Have giveaways like my ‘5 Winning Ways to Build Your Network Marketing Business’ every now and then to encourage readers to engage with your content and have more credibility in you and your brand. Sharing also other content that you have found of interest in a post is also beneficial. Getting them involved helps build the digital relationship and cultivates a loyal consumer base.

5. Consistent Blogging

The hardest thing about blogging isn’t coming up with ideas or editing your posts, it’s taking the time out of your day to sit down and write on a consistent basis. The best way to get in the habit of blogging is by marking off a specific day and time where you can fit it into your schedule – then stick to it no matter what. I suggest you to schedule your blog posts before hand and post 2-3 times a week at least. A great free plugin is ‘WordPress Editorial Calendar’.

Have a Strong Call To Action

Once the user is done reading, you’ll want them to take an action. This action varies depending on what industry your in and what you sell. Some good call to action words might be “Contact Us Today” or “Call Us For Your Free Estimate”. You’ll want your call to action to be placed in a visible area on your blog (e.g. after the post and/or in the sidebar area).
