5 Characteristics you need to have to Succeed in a Home-Based Business

In today’s world where there is no ‘JOB SECURITY’, many are taking on board to start their own home-based business like I did back in 2011. It is a great decision I’ve made that shaped my life and completely helped me change my employee mindset to an entrepreneurial mindset.

Living in the informational stage, one must have something on the side apart from their job. As Jim Rohn (Legend in Self Growth) said… “Working hard on your job you will make a living, working hard on yourself you can make a fortune”. That quote really hit me and I understood that the best option to start is by working on myself and work on my own business.

Is home-based business for everyone? In my opinion it is for everyone but not everyone is going to do it. People are people, some they buy others opinions, they are not well educated on this and also some are not driven and they just want to live in their comfort zone till they are buried.

But, others like you wanted a change and looked for an opportunity to build something from scratch, embracing the process, learning and growing. See, the more you grow, the more your business grows.

So what are the 5 Characteristics you need to have to Succeed in a Home-Based Business?

These are my take on the 5 Characteristics you need to have to Succeed in a Home-Based Business;

1. Be Passionate

If you started your home-based business just because the comp plan is good, it is a big No No. You must have a passion for your product or service that you are offering. Being passionate speaks volume and in fact people get drawn by people they love what they do, know what are they doing and having that passion that drives them to do it.

2. Be Accountable

One of the best things owning a home-based business is that you work with people and especially with successful ones. Find an accountability partner so you keep track and assist each other to build the business. Being accountable to each other (sponsor/upline) is a major secret that will definitely help you get your focus on and will create a team relationship better to reach higher. Communicate daily with your business activities.

3. Be Coachable

In this business the more you Listen the more you are going to succeed. It is all based in knowing the basics and applying them repeatedly. Paying attention and take notes from those who are already where you want to go and listen to their advice by lowering your Ego. Sometimes our ego takes over but that will not help you in your home-based business. It doesn’t matter what experiences you’ve had, as every company has their own successful proven system that you should learn and duplicate with your organization.

4. Be a Protagonist

Another attribute to have in this business is to make a transition from a spectator to a protagonist. People who remain spectators and don’t put themselves to a test, will hardly make any progress or success. Once you learn the process you must step up and take charge of your team by leading them to success. Become a presenter; organize team trainings, team building sessions and other activities. Attending leadership events in your area or other similar events will definitely help you grow your leadership skills.

5. Be Present

Attend everything! Being present will help you in many ways; learning more than those who do not, earning more that does who do not and finally you have a chance to network with the top people in your business to get their knowledge and brains. Being present also means that you want this as bad as you want to breathe.

I know, there are more than my 5 Characteristics you need to have to Succeed in a Home-Based Business but these are the ones I apply and people who are newbies in the business can make a transition to lead his/her team in few months.
