Discover the 7 Myths of Cold Market Recruiting;

#1 Myths – Strangers are scary

You are a stranger to others, so do you think you are scary? To start with a good tip I can give you is to compliment them. Yes that is right and here is an example. You are at a supermarket and you asked someone that works there where is the cake decorations section and they help you out and perhaps they might give you their advice on what to buy with the cake creation you are doing. So you compliment them for their help and their attitude. Be observant for positive attitude people they surely are good prospects!

#2 Myths – People don’t want to hear about my deal

That’s utterly nonsense! Here is the thing, think about people purchase things everyday and always are looking for ways to be healthy, taking more vacations, save time or money etc. So having this thought you will have the worst attitude ever. It will show in your actions! For me when someone have that thought they have not made use of the product, which means they don not BELIEVE in it. My advice use your product!

#3 Myths – I don’t have time to go out and prospect

I hear this all the time. One of the reasons people think about this it is because of 2 main things. 1) time management 2) their business is not their priority. We all have time, it is how we use it that counts. Make a goal to prospect 1-2 people a day then make a commitment with yourself and go do it.

#4 Myths – It takes a smooth talker to cold market recruit

To talk with people does not need a higher diploma or a PHD in speaking. There is a structure that we call F.O.R.Ming (From/Family, Occupation, Recreation, Message). It is vital to ask questions like…

F (From/Family) – Are you from this area? Where are you from? You’ve got family?

O (Occupation) – What do you do for a living? What do you like most about your job? What do you dislike about your job?

R (Recreation) – What do you do for fun? What hobbies do you have? Do you like to keep fit? Do you like to travel? Have you taken any vacations lately?

M (Message) – I couldn’t help but over hear… Then Recap their PAIN (the answer when you asked them about what do they Dislike about their job).

I actually just got started with a pretty amazing company. I don’t know if you have what this company is looking for but I am working with some successful people and this might be a way for you actually to be able to (Mention their Painful things they’ve just told you in the conversation). Can you meet me tomorrow at Starbucks at 7pm?

Following this structure and I am sure that you will have success with it.

#5 Myths – I have to have a certain personality

Not true! You have to be yourself and not someone else. People join you and not what you do. So if you are a caring person, a fun loving person, a seasoned entrepreneur, a goal getter or a money driven you all have the personality to attract the people you want to. What you need to understand is that the more you be interested in them by listening more you will get the better chance to get more contacts.

#6 Myths – I need to know when to transition to talking about my deal

This was covered is #4 Myth. You do not mention anything about your deal as your task in here is to qualify the person in front of you if they are looking for a better way than their job.

#7 Myths – I will look stupid if I screw up

Remember in the beginning like in everything in life you will not be comfortable but life starts outside your comfort zone. Learn and practice the questions and go do it. Remember that the person in front of you doesn’t know about the questions you are going to ask them so it is ok if you forgot one or two.
