Let’s start from the first step here…
Facebook Recruiting: Profile Positioning
Many out there get this completely wrong and I’ve seen a lot of people struggling with this part so many times.
It starts with the Profile Positioning as that’s the first thing people see when they go on your profile.
The 3 Important Things to check
Your Profile Picture
I see people who put their dog or cat as their profile picture. I never consider them as a prospect so very important that you have a nice looking picture of YOU. Make sure it is clear and that you are smiling in the photo. You do not need to change it every week… that’s another mistake most people do. It is part of your branding and of your authority build up.
Your Timeline Cover
Keep it simple! This is your billboard right… but some literally outdo this occasion by putting their company logo/details/contact details. It is overwhelming to people who go on your profile. I know what are you thinking… (I do this to try and show them that I am with this company). That is the worst thing you are doing and that is why you are lacking results in here. Why? You are giving it away immediately so they will check out your company before you have even managed to chat/talk with them.
So, here are some tips on what to put as your timeline. Family photo, Friends photo, Nice views of places and Empowering quotes. People tend to relate to you as you are being normal and not coming out as a salesperson. So when they come to your profile, they judge you by what they see… your timeline cover speaks a lot about you and your likings.
You can use Canva.com or you can hire someone on fiverr or upwork to get one made for a few bucks.
(Make sure it looks good on mobile)
Your About Section
After setting up your Profile picture and your timeline cover, your last step for the Profile Positioning is your About YOU section. You see, don’t make the mistake most people do that in the About section they link their company website links, their company video presentation and other call to action moves.
Your About Section is to sell yourself NOT the company you are with. So fill up details where they can connect with you (phone number, skype, your personal blog/website (for more credibility) & few things about what you like and that you are open to meet and connect with other people).
All in all this will help you in order to not being WEIRD in the eye of your prospect but rather being a normal guy or gal who is looking to connect to build a relationship with them and not to sell them anything. Remember it is called Social Media NOT Sell-Cial Media.
